Josh was the founder of the dominant Cartel alliance, placing himself in a strong position at the start of the game. In Week 1, he decided that the first target should be Marcellas Reynolds; however, Marcellas was ultimately saved with the Veto by Gerry Lancaster. After Marcellas was saved from eviction, the tide of the house turned against Josh, as he had been playing the game too strongly and his paranoia had been rubbing other houseguests the wrong way. In Week 2, Josh was nominated as Marcellas Reynolds' target for eviction; however, after he campaigned heavily to stay and Tonya Paoni started to fight with other houseguests, he barely survived eviction. After this, Josh laid low in the game, but he formed deals with other Houseguests, including longtime enemy Gerry, to improve his position in the house. When former ally Chiara Jude Berti became HOH in Week 5, The Secret Alliance convinced her to turn on Josh and nominate him next to his only ally left, Roddy Mancuso. After being nominated, Josh contemplated walking from the game, as he knew his eviction was certain, but he was convinced to stay and was ultimately evicted by a vote of 5-0, placing 9th and becoming the 4th member of the jury.
